If we could capture Principal Gilsinan's excitement for the First Day of School (and every day) in just one photo...#PrideInTheHive

Did we mention that we're VERY excited to be able to expand our Universal Pre-K program to three full-day classes? We visited the new classrooms this morning and want to give our UPK families, who we know are just as excited as us, a sneak peek! #PrideInTheHive

LOVE. The most important aspect to a new school year – our students need to feel loved when they walk back through our doors. Students will find success, Superintendent McLaughlin told faculty and staff this morning, if they feel loved and supported.
Superintendent McLaughlin urged the PCS family to lead the 2022-23 school year with love and gratitude. After navigating through the last two difficult years together, we continue to be grateful for the partnership with our families and community to provide an educational environment where students can thrive and succeed.

The Big Cheese!
Congratulations Harley Wolfanger on earning first place in the Senior Division of the FFA Milk Quality and Products competition at the New York State Fair!

The Big Cheese!
Congratulations Harley Wolfanger on earning first place in the Senior Division of the FFA Milk Quality and Products competition at the New York State Fair!

I am walking by a classroom and hear our students using the following words and phrases: sharp, nutty, sticks to the teeth, and malleable. My curiosity was piqued. Mrs. Woloszyn and her FFA students are preparing for the Milk Quality and Products competition at the New York State Fair. Preparation involves sampling and describing milk and milk products. I was fortunate to observe the cheese tasting portion of their preparations. The team members are honing their palates prior to the competition.
Bring on any cheese…our students will be ready!
Best students, best FFA, best team!

Mr. Wyant, HS Assistant Principal/Athletic Director, recently accepted the Sportsmanship Promotion Program Award and Plaque on behalf of PCSD. The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) recognized only six schools in all of Section V. The Sportsmanship Promotion Survey is designed to assess how schools are promoting positive sportsmanship within their athletic departments. The award is presented to schools that have developed proactive approaches to keeping sportsmanship in the forefront of their athletic programs and school culture.

Are you excited about the fall sports season? We are! Football practice officially started over the weekend and the remainder of our teams start this week or next. We were eager to catch this morning's practice for the girls’ swim team (shared with Letchworth CSD). This is the first girls' swim team in school history! #PrideInTheHive

One of my favorite trips of the summer is visiting our students at the Wyoming County Fair. Our students work extremely hard throughout the entire year to prepare their animals and projects for The Fair.
The PCS students have had a successful Fair so far. Head over to Pike and check out their work this week.

More summer renovations at PCS!
The O and M team mounted the new paddle boards in the Natatorium.
Check out the new wall pads in the Senior High School gymnasium.

Check out the Perry FFA booth in the youth building as well as support all our amazing students and projects that will be on display at the Wyoming County Fair, August 13 - 20!

Watching Sheds by Fisher LLC parallel park the brand new dugouts in place with precision was remarkable!
The new dugouts are larger and have dedicated storage spaces. When completed, they will have custom benches, helmet storage areas, and bat racks.
I will continue to say it: “We have the best local business on our team.”
Thank you, Sheds by Fisher LLC for your amazing craftsmanship and service.

This morning I stopped by the Elementary/Junior High School and was blown away by the Operations and Maintenance Department’s efforts. I told Sue Cox (Cleaner a.k.a. The Boss): “It looks like you could skate on these floors. They look amazing.”
The O and M Crew takes complete ownership of the facilities. The personal care and attention given to every inch of our buildings is evident the moment you walk through the door.
Best O and M team by far!

Perry Central Basketball/Lowell Heiby Summer Camp hosted 38 campers during the week of June 27. Coaches Rod Allen, Jeremy Ohlson, and Jimmy Fahey focused on teaching participants individual skills of ball handling and shooting, as well as, game play.
The Lowell Heiby scholarship not only supplied campers with a camp t-shirt, but also provided both the boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball teams with summer league fees. The PCSD basketball programs would like to thank the Heiby family for its continued support!

Check out the delivery for Mrs. Woloszyn and our Ag students!
The District is constantly researching the best equipment to incorporate in its instructional spaces. Our students will have access to a large CNC plasma cutter in their agriculture electives. The District included this cutting edge technology in its American Rescue Plan grant application.
Best students, best teacher, most cutting-edge equipment, best team!

The Operations and Maintenance crew is pouring the foundations for the new dugouts on the baseball and softball fields.
Best O and M team…hands down!

Perry Central School District Family Members:
The waivers utilized to provide all students with free breakfasts and lunches during the COVID-19 pandemic WILL END this summer. The Board of Education adopted its policy statement for free and reduced meals, and student meal prices at its reorganization meeting. Breakfast: $1.75
Lunch: UPK – 4 $2.60
