A group of students reading.

The generosity of our community helps the school district provide its students with educational opportunities, and memories. On March 26, each of our first graders was able to visit Act 4 Books on South Main Street and pick out a book to take home. The trip was made possible through donations made to the Perry Garden Club in memory of Linda Watson. For years, Linda volunteered in Pam Patridge’s first-grade classroom at PES several days a week to help out with reading to support literacy. The Garden Club offered this kind gesture as a way to honor Linda’s dedication to Perry students. Expenses that exceeded the memorial funds were generously covered by the Act 4 Community, a non-profit that supports literacy, learning, and community discussion about books. Thank you to all who donated in Linda’s memory, as well as the Perry Garden Club, Pam Patridge, the Act 4 Community, and the staff and volunteers at Act 4 Books. Because of their generosity and thoughtfulness, each first grader now has a book they will cherish forever in Linda’s memory.
