- Massa Const. concrete sub-contractor arrived on site and started forming sidewalk along the bus loop working toward the front entrance.
- Forms, wire mesh, and layout were all inspected ensuring each met the drawing requirements.
- SJB arrived on site and took four cylinders of concrete, performed a slump (5) air (7.5) test and temperature reading of concrete (62 degrees).
- Discussed the concrete pattern of the finished concrete with sub-contractor in order to match existing look.
- Concrete curb was properly edged and tooled.
- Concrete contractor will be pouring Tuesday and Wednesday at the Elem bus loop. SJB was scheduled for 8:00am on both dates.
- Massa informed me that the West side sidewalk leading to the HS front entrance will be tore out on Wednesday. The HS main office was informed.
October 20
62/47 Warmer with slight breeze out of the west, partly sunny
- Massa started saw cutting the HS asphalt sidewalk starting at Watkins Ave. Work on this will commence tomorrow.
- The second day of concrete pouring encompassed the Elem front entrance. Their work started under the Elem front entrance awning ending just short of the handicap ramp leading to the bus loop. The plan is to finish off the concrete tomorrow on the bus loop sidewalk.
October 21
- Massa poured concrete on the remaining section of the Elem. bus loop leading toward Olin Ave. Approximately 40 yards were poured today.
- SJB Services was on site. The slump, air, and temperature testing all passed. Four cylinders were taken for testing.
- Massa started tearing out the right side HS front entrance sidewalk leading to Watkins Ave. The stone base was installed in preparation for the concrete sub-contractor to pour tomorrow.
- One section of concrete at the Elem bus loop could ne be poured due to Hanson. Their firm was unable to deliver the product until late afternoon. The final pour will occur tomorrow.
- Capital project coordination meeting occurred with all contractors present. The following project tasks were discussed:
-- The Elem. bus loop will be milled and paved next week.
-- The asphalt behind the HS gym will be installed the same time as the Elem. bus loop
-- The flag pole concrete pad and HS sidewalk work outside the guidance office will occur early next week. Billitier Elect. wants to know installation date so solar light can be installed.
-- The HS terrazzo repairs were discussed for the HS corridor. Massa will have sub-contractor on site to preview existing conditions so accurate pricing may be provided and repair date set.
-- Thanksgiving break the HS science wing exterior doors will be installed. Work will be completed in one day.
-- Cogenic will install the boiler room actuators and controls on 10/29.
-- New HS pool chlorinator will arrive next week. Once it arrives Cogenic will install. Anticipated completion is 1 day.
October 22
60/37 early morning rain with sunshine through afternoon into evening.
- Massa formed and poured the HS front entrance sidewalk adjacent to the bike rack out to Watkins Ave. Approximately 40 yards of concrete was installed.
- Massa tore out the asphalt sidewalk on the left side of the HS front entrance leading to Watkins Ave.
- The stone base was installed and tamped in preparation for concrete on Monday morning. Concrete was not available for Friday until late afternoon.
- SJB was scheduled for Monday at 9:00am for the concrete sidewalk pour.
October 23
45/35 Very cool morning and afternoon with sunshine throughout the day.
- Massa installed topsoil along the recently poured HS sidewalk to Watkins Ave.
- Barricades were removed from the HS sidewalk so students could use when leaving school for the day.
- A portion of asphalt and subgrade behind the HS gymnasium was removed in order to remediate the area. Excavation down to 30" deep was required due to the subgrade being saturated. Stone fill is reinserted and rolled prepping the area for asphalt next week.
