March

March 1, 2013

- Acquired necessary paperwork from Clark-Patterson-Lee regarding the roofing-pool unit submission.  Architect required district data (school size, district signatures, and misc. information) to finalize project submission.

- Bruce Knapp (M/E Engineering) and Mike DeGaetano (RL Kistler Inc.) visited the HS to review the actual pool conditions.  Measurements were conducted on the roof penetrations (supply and return), condensate line, electrical feed, breaker panel location, elimination of two pool water feed lines no longer needed with new pool unit, and future heat exchange unit required for pool.  Since the district boilers are shut down over the warmer months, a heat exchanger will be necessary to heat the pool air.  The anticipated location of the unit will be adjacent to the pool heater.

- Meeting with David Friedrich (William Watson Co. Inc.) was set up by me to discuss pool equipment and maintenance the district should pursue since the space is undergoing construction this summer.  Items such as the pool water circulation pump, sand filter replacement, chlorinator pump replacement, testing of electrical contacts in pool filter room (highly chlorinated air), pool surface, and concerns Tracy Rozanski raised during her tenure at the district.  David plans on creating a estimated cost for the list of items discussed.

-Provided Kirk Edwards (Clark-Patterson-Lee) measurements of the roof top support steel.  They may have to move the stairwell in order to incorporate another roof drain in this location due to excessive water ponding.  Several roof penetrations exist in this area of the roof damming the water as it attempts to reach the roof drains.  Installing an additional drain will help alleviate future problems.

- Spoke with Kirk Edwards (Clark-Patterson-Lee) on the capital project submission.  Kirk stated the documents are all set to be submitted to SED today.  The information will be mailed this afternoon.  The anticipated approval for the project documents is still 4-weeks.

-Kirk is sending the bid drawings to me in a PDF format so they may included on the Capital Project website.

March 12, 2013

- M/E Engineering sent a letter to the Wyoming County environmental Health addressed to Steve Perkins informing him that Perry CSD plans on upgrading the HS pool unit.  The letter addresses the 6 air changes per hour, 18,000 CFM, and the minimum outside air CFM of 4,500.  If Steve has any questions, Bruce Knapp requested he be contacted on the new pool units design.

March 14, 2013

- Conducted walk through with Kirk Edwards regarding specific tasks listed under Phase II of capital project.  Looked at rooms 221 and 143 in the Elem./MS that were scheduled to receive sinks and cabinetry within the rooms to aid in science projects.  Room 143 tentatively plans on adding a sink with a goose neck fixture and base cabinet for small science projects.  The cabinetry and sink will be located adjacent to classroom entrance connecting to the existing wall cabinetry already in place.  Room 221 currently has a sink with cabinetry already in place.  After discussing the specific needs of the classroom with Steve haynes, he decided the room does not require any modifications considering the existing layout of the classroom.  Room 221 will be removed from the Phase II scope.

March 21, 2013

- SED requested the cut sheets related to new pool unit's design.  The SED project manager wanted to ensure the appropriate amount of air changes were designed for our pool space.  The drawings and cut sheets were emailed to SED.

March 22, 2013

- Dave Walters contacted me stating NYSED provided a verbal approval on both the mechanical and architectural drawings for phase I.  Two dates were provided for possible bid openings April 25 or April 30.  The contractors will have an estimated 3-weeks to review the drawings and provide their respective bids on the Phase I portion of the project.

- Contacted Dave Walter on the agenda for April 8, 2013.  Requested that the bid documents be modified to include all As-Built drawings be provided in digital format in addition to their normal review submission.  Dave will include this into the bid documents.

March 25, 2013

- Questions regarding details listed on drawing A-800 and A-801 sent to Kirk Edwards (Clark-Patterson-Lee).  Termination details of EPDM on perimeter edge requires clarification.  Roof pitch detail along perimeter edge is missing, need clarification to ensure proper pitch is identified to roof drains/crickets.  Concerns with verbage used in roof details explicitly listing rigid insulation without mention of SPF alternate.  Will this be a problem (change order) if BOE approves SPF insulation alternate under base bid with current detail verbiage?

March 26, 2013

- NYSED provides official written approval on Phase I architectural and mechanical drawings.  The permits will be delayed a few weeks but do not prevent the district from moving forward with bidding the work.

- Official bid opening for Phase I is April 30th at 4:00 pm in the HS cafeteria.

March 27, 2013

- Clark-Patterson-Lee emailed the "Advertisement For Bids" document.  The purchase order and request for publication of the advertisement was completed and sent of to Batavia Daily and the Perry Herald on April 4, 2013.  This will permit the necessary 3-weeks for the contractors to bid the work listed in the scope.  Building USe was submitted requesting HS cafeteria for the bid opening on April 30th at 4:00 pm.

-Discussion commenced on portions of Phase II scope.  Type of doors, hardware, glass, etc and district expectations regarding new HS front doors under Phase II scope.

March 28, 2013

- Contacted three roofing firms the district has dealt with in the past informing them of the "Advertisement For Bids" that is scheduled for publication on April 4, 2013.  Plans to contact Henderson-Johnson (SPF applicator) so pricing will be available on insulation alternate in lieu of rigid insulation board.
