July 21 - July 27
July 22, 2013
Weather: Cooler with temperatures in the mid 70's with a overcast for the majority of the day.
- No mason's on site. They did commit to finish their base bid work tomorrow into Wednesday
- Roofers completed three additional rows of EPDM on the auditorium roof today. Considering there are limited roof penetrations in this area, they feel confident they complete the majority of roofing in this location by next week.
- A Firestone roofing inspector arrived today to inspect the existing work. He is very pleased with the work completed. He did raise a question regarding the termination/ flashing over the library roof under the 2nd story windows. Mike Jackson provided the inspector his plan to terminate the roofing in this location with the use of a "L" style flashing with a bead of caulk along the steel lintel. The inspector agreed with the idea and would not raise any concerns when the final inspection occurs.
- The perimeter edge flashing for the music wing roof and cafeteria roof were discussed due to the height of the perimeter wood blocking in place. Approximately 10" of wood blocking is currently installed making one piece of perimeter edge metal unreasonable. A two step flashing is recommended by the inspector similar to what the stage roof currently has to accommodate the wood blocking in the above mentioned locations.
- Action Roofing discussed how they eliminated the wood fascia that was previously installed by past contractors. Their concerns with the wind speed warranty and flashing's integrity were the primary reason for the change. The Firestone inspector was content with this approach.
- Overall the Firestone inspector is very pleased with the installation taking place. There were no concerns conveyed to myself or Action Roofing by Firestone.
- Action Roofing and their sub-contractors pay application was submitted today. I reviewed the work and made the percentage corrections that accurately indicate the work completed. The document was sent back to Dean Frentz earlier this morning.
- Final plans for hydro-seeding the hill outside the HS gymnasium were discussed with Wyoming County's Water & Soil Conservation Dept. One load of hydro-seed will be applied to the hill side by County workers with the use of their hydro-seeding equipment for a minimal charge. This work will take place within the next 2-weeks.

Weather: Mostly sunny with temperatures in the mid 70's
- The mason's did not show, Mike Jackson plans on contacting them again on a date to finish off their work.
- Work continued on the auditorium roof. Action completed another 3 rows of EPDM for the day.
- The summer laborers started raking the hill side where the retaining wall once stood. Plans for the Wyoming County Highway department are in motion to have the hillside hydro-seeded.
- Concerns from district personnel were raised today regarding the concrete dust that was filtering into the auditorium while Action Roofing was completing their work. I explained to the district that the plastic anchors once used to hold the ISO board in place must be removed for the new product to be installed. The summer laborers will clean the auditorium once the roof work is completed over the auditorium.

Weather: Cooler and partly cloudy with temperatures in the low 70's
- No mason's on site
- Action Roofing completed the remainder of the auditorium roof today.
- A question on the need for a expansion joint was discussed with Dean Frentz (Clark-Patterson-Lee) in between the auditorium and pool roof. Mike Jackson discovered there is no expansion joint in between the two rooms through the gypsum deck. He questioned why a expansion joint was necessary on the EPDM if not through the entire facility. Dean recommended placing the expansion joint back in place considering the drawings called for this design.
- Wood blocking was placed in the location of the expansion joint (see pictures).
- Four roof drains on the auditorium side of the roof were had the drain pan enlarged to increase the roofs water flow.

- Action Roofing continued work on the upper EPDM roof. They started removing the skylights and left over roof penetrations over the 2nd floor caged area. Steel or corrugated plates were placed were the roof cutouts once existed.
- The new expansion joint between the auditorioum roof and 2nd floor storage area has been roughed in.
- Two rows of EPDM were installed today. The majority of time was spent on removing the roof penetrations, preparing the cutouts for new roofing, and finally roofing the entire area.

Weather: Sunny and cool in the morning. Overcast in the afternoon with slight sprinkles later in the day.
- No masons on site
- Cogenic's insurance still requires modifications per Don Stout. He requested that the word explosion be included within the fire portion of the coverage.
- Action roofing started the pool roof area. They plan on completing only half of the pool roof until Cogenic completes their work. They plan on moving down to the cafeteria roof next. Their EPDm work should be completed by the end of next week.
- Phase 1 project meeting planned for today. Discussions on Action Roofing's progress and the status of their work was reviewd.
- Visited Silver Creek CSD to preview their new pol cover recently installed. Their poolis is similiar in size to Perry's. The operation of the pool, projected maintenance, and the savings incorporated with this installation was discussed.
