July 15, 2013

Weather: Hot, muggy, with temperatures in the low 90's

- No Masons on site, their hoping to return to the district by the end of the week to finish

- Roofers applied a row of EPDM over the pool locker room skylights and adjacent roof penetrations. (see pictures)

- The roof penetration flashing and detail work continued on the music wing roof.

- The roofers have approximately 1 more day of work over the pool locker room before they will move onto the auditorium roof.  They cannot continue until the masons return to finish their work so the remaining new EPDM can be installed.

- Discussion's on where the district wants the ballasted roof contents dropped off was identified.

Weather: Sunny with temperatures in the upper 80's

- No mason's on site

- Action roofing started demolition of the EPDM over the district office.  The district office occupants were notified of the noise and possibility of VOC's from the roofing adhesive and primer into their work space.

- Action roofing was able to complete two rows of new EPDM today.

- The roofers found that several of the existing anchors used to hold the insulation were either broken or failed to hold due to faulty installation.  Several anchors failed to permanently fasten the roofing material in place causing the anchors to separate from the insulation and apply pressure against the existing EPDM.

Weather: Warm with temperatures reaching the low 80's, sunny until later in the afternoon.

- No mason's on site

- Action Roofing completed the roofing over the district office.  Several locations of existing ISO were completely saturated with water.  A failure in the old EPDM permitted water to infiltrate into the membrane which collected over the years.

- The roofers paid special attention to the EPDM termination around the roof top air conditioning unit to the district office considering the water accumulation found during their demolition.  The drain pan was widened to the edge of the air conditioning unit to permit any water accumulation to properly drain.  In addition, a hose was installed to the condensate line from the air conditioning unit to the roof drain to eliminate any water ponding while the unit is running.

Weather: Temperatures in the mid 70's with sunshine

- No Mason's on site

- Action roofing finished the EPDM under the roof top condensing unit to the auditorium.  This area required extensive cutting in and detail work considering the amount of roof curbs in place.  The condensing unit, refrigerant lines, and condensate lines each set on several curbs in this location.

- The final roofing details per Firestone were applied to each of the roof penetrations and curbs once the EPDM was completed.

Weather: Cooler temperatures in the low 70's, partly sunny

- No Mason's on site

- Action Roofing started tearing off the first two rows of existing roofing over the auditorium.  The gypsum deck was primed, vapor barrier installed, two layers of ISO, densdeck, and 30-year EPDM was installed for the first two rows.

- The roofers worked a short day considering the work towards the roof penetrations the day before.  They left prior to lunch today.

- I contacted the Wyoming County Water & Soil Conservation Dept. regarding the use of their hydro-seeder where the retaining wall was removed.  They will contact the County highway department to see what their labor rates will cost for the work.  They plan on previewing the location to estimate the amount of hydro-seed material needed to cover the entire area.  They will contact me Monday with a cost.

- Due to the chain link fence removal, the entire soccer field adjacent to the hardball field will need to be moved approximately 45' to the north.  This will eliminate reduce the close proximity athletes will encounter with the new chain link fence installed.
