Free Reading

This is a free, open-source supplemental reading program developed by teachers for grades K-3. There are vocabulary activities for 150 books commonly used in primary classrooms, content-neutral graphic organizers and templates, writing lessons, and word list generators.

Book Talks

Skip the book report and have your students write short book talks. There are hundreds of short introductions to books meant to sell the book to the reader. Students are invited to submit their own book talk. In addition there are book talk tips and lists of books. Think of this site as a collection of trailers for great books, from picture books to the great works of literature.
