Weather: Cool and sunny throughout the day temperatures reaching 68
General Roofing
- Six roofers on site today
- Another row of EPDM was installed on the Elem roof. Two wet spots were cut and replaced as indicated on the roof scan report.
- Concerns with the membrane not completely sitting onto the new densdeck were raised again. Most sit once walked on but several stay no matter what pressure is applied.
- The prefabricated drain pan installation was witnessed during their work today.
- Roofers mistakenly separated the roof drain from the collar. They need access to the underside of the building to connect the two before finishing the drain pan in this location.
Highland Masonry
- Two masons were on site today
- Wok continued on the vertical joints along the Elem. building
- The old sealant was removed around the windows on Elem. wing. New sealant was installed
- Work along the front entrance 2nd floor fascia occurred in preparation for the punchlist walk thru tomorrow

Weather: Cool morning warming up to around 70 degrees
General Roofing
- Six roofers on site today
- Discussed the timeframe for additional roofers to pick up the pace. John (foreman) indicated next week they anticipate additional manpower considering Brighton school is almost complete
- Additional row of roofing was installed.
- Another discussion on the previous EPDM installation occurred with the pockets in the membrane. John indicated the Carlisle rep. will not have an issue with my concerns.
- During CPL visit, my concerns were reviewed. Carlisle rep. will be brought onto site to review current work and address concerns.
- Contractor feels the Elem wing will be completed with EPDM installation by the end of this week.
Highland Masonry
- Three masons were on site today.
- Work continued on the vertical joints along the Elem. wing. Window sealant was replaced on the 1st and 2nd floor windows.
- Punchlist walk thru occurred on the 2nd floor sealant work.
- Additional sealant along the Elem library windows on both side to the precast needs to occur. Highland will write an estimate cost for the work which will count towards the allowance already built into their contract.
- Several masonry joints in the brick need to be repaired. A list was logged by CPL which will be passed onto Highland.
- Highland will open the 2nd floor wall to the auditorium. The intent is to determine why the flashing is permitting water infiltration into the building.
- CPL and Highland previewed the concerns to the water leaks in the Supt. office. Masonry restoration to the brick will occur first. If this does not work, the wall will be opened to determine the flashings integrity.
August 30, 2017
Weather: Cool, sunny with temperatures reaching 68 degrees
General Roofing
- A total of 6 roofers were on site today
- New ISO, densdeck and EPDM were installed on the last part of the east side of the Elem roof.
- The regional manager for Carlisle Roofing arrived to inspect the work by General Roofing. Concerns with a few wrinkles in the new EPDM (Fish mouths) were pointed out requiring repair.
- The inspectors also raised concerns with one seam to close to the roof drain pain on the Elem roof
- A few bubbles located in the lap seam also require repair.
- The inspector plans on returning when the roof is complete to provide a full inspection of the facility
Highland Masonry
- The precast sills to the upper library windows were racked out due to faulty mortar joints
- Vertical seam replacement on the Elem east side of the building continued.
- Plans to open up the corner of the brick wall over the auditorium to determine the flashing integrity is scheduled to take place today.
August 31, 2017
Weather: AM rain until 8am, cooler temperatures around 64 degrees. Partly cloudy throughout the afternoon
General Roofing
- Six roofers on site today
- One more section of roofing was installed, terminating at the roof expansion joint.
- Concerns with two seams located in the roof drain pan which were installed yesterday. John indicated the membrane in the drain pan will be removed so the seam will be on top of the drain pan.
- The roof drain collar that separated approx. 1 week ago was re-secured.
- The antenna to be removed from the roof was pointed out to the roofers in preparation for the last run of membrane on the Elem tomorrow.
Highland Masonry
- Three masons were on site today
- They finished the upper vertical work on the east side of the Elem wing.
- Work commenced on the north side of the Elem. wing.
- The auditorium exterior brick wall that continuously leaks was opened up to expose the existing conditions. Pictures of the flashing, termination bar, and weep locations were identified. A price to repair the incorrect work will be obtained by CPL.
- The contractor plans on starting on installing sealant onto the front entrance concrete sidewalk. This will permit the product to cure over the weekend.
September 1, 2017
Weather: Cooler temperatures reaching 67 degrees, overcast throughout the day.
General Roofing
- Six roofers on site today
- The final section of roofing was completed over the Elem. classrooms
- Trash, old perimeter edge metal, and old roofing membrane was removed from the roof in preparation for the long weekend.
- Discussed what area of the roof General Roofing planned on addressing next
Highland Roofing
- Four masons were on site today
- Two man lifts were in operation to cut out all material on the north side of the Elem. All cutting is to be completed on this wing prior to school.
- Window sealant on the 2nd floor windows continued in an effort to complete this area before school starts.
- The front entrance sidewalk control joints were caulked in preparation for winter.
