August 21, 2017

General Roofing

- Approximately 7 roofers were on site today.  Prep work started on the Elem wing.

- Existing perimeter edge metal on Elem wind was removed.  The existing EPDM was clearly identified as installed improperly back in 2000.  The membrane did not roll over the existing perimeter edge blocking permitting several access points for water infiltration under windy conditions.

- New (2) 2x8 Perimeter edge blocking was installed.

- Ensured the IBC 2304.9.1 was enforced during the blocking installation

- Additional adhesive for the densdeck installation was placed on the roof.

- Plans for tomorrow are to have additional roofers on site so the new roof work may commence.

- A 2nd email was sent to faculty and staff to not park around the Elem facility due to the construction.  Two teachers still parked directly below the roof line by the Elem entrance.

 Highland Masonry

- Two masons were on site continuing the vertical and window joint replacement along the cafeteria.  Approximately 6 joints were replaced today.

- Discussion took place after the coordination meeting on the precast caulk instead of the gray caulk which was already approved.  A color was verbally approved but will be placed in writing between CPL and Highland.

- Discussion on the drawings which reference the precast fascia renovations.  It was determined the work will be relegated to the brick work along the fascia precast, not he entire seam.

- The smaller windows (3) on each side of the library were not originally identified in the bid drawings.  After review, the corner precast joints will be addressed.  This work will be covered under the general allowance as identified on the bid drawing notes.

- Coordination meeting occurred between both prime contractors on site.  Submittals, pay applications, RFI's and addendums were discussed during this meeting.

- There are no delays at this point that will hold up the schedule.

- Brief discussion on the new skylight domes on the Elem roof took place.  The curb blocking will be raised to accommodate the new insulation board providing the height required for the Carlisle roofing warranty.
